Mise en Abyme is delighted to have partnered with the IAB - Institute of the Arts Barcelona in

the Culture Moves Europe programme, funded by the European Union and the Goethe-Institut, for the period 28 October to 1 December as part of IAB residency initiative, Ecosystem of

Theatre and Performance. Through consultancy and mentorship, Mise en Abyme supported the resident artists Avra Sidiropoulou, Claudio Boschi, Marta Keller, João Pecegueiro, and Livia Massarelli.

We are thrilled to announce the publication of two experimental scripts by two of the resident artists: Claudio Boschi and João Pecegueiro.

This publication is one of the key outcomes of Boschi and Pecegueiro's activities during the residency, developed in collaboration with experts, consultants, and peer artists such as Oscar Valsecchi, Martin Lewton, and Lea Marks.

The authors

Claudio Boschi is an Italian director, actor, voice artist, and playwright based in Rome. A graduate of the University of Naples “Federico II,” he trained in dubbing and acting with artists such as Orlando Cinque and Agostina Luz Lopez (Betsud Beyond The South). His work spans television (Mina SettembreIl Commissario Rex), film (Martin Eden), and radio, though his primary focus is theatre. Boschi has explored classical and contemporary dramaturgy, with a strong interest in popular theater and actor training. As a director, he debuted internationally with Children are Children (2018), a project on Filumena Marturano. He has performed at the Napoli Teatro Festival Italia, Teatro Bellini, and in the award-winning short Amarena (2021). A frequent collaborator of playwright Fabio Pisano, he is currently developing a monologue on Ernest Hemingway.

João Pecegueiro is a Portuguese theater artist, light and video designer at A Barraca Theatre in Lisbon. He holds an MA with distinction from Liverpool John Moores University (2022, Academic Award) and a Post-Graduate Degree in Media, Technology & Performance from the School of Higher Education in Theater and Cinema, Lisbon (2023, Merit Scholarship).

Blending original texts with new technologies, Pecegueiro integrates real-time manipulation tools and interactive systems into performance. His creations include Basic Notions of Theatre Very Well Explained #1: Character, Freya’s Story to an Unborn Baby and an Audience, and AUDIÇÕES um manual de sobrevivência, staged in Barcelona and Lisbon. He has collaborated with major theater companies and directors such as Carlos Avilez, Beatriz Batarda, and Violeta Gil. He was an assistant director for Penetrador (2018) and is set to perform in The Second Woman at the 2025 Grec Festival in Barcelona.
